Summa College wants to profile itself as an open, dynamic outward-oriented organisation, in which a combination of in- and outside school learning takes place both in the Netherlands and abroad. Those who enter the schools of Summa College should feel the interest for internationalisation; that the school is aware of the increasing globalisation of both education and business life.
In its European Development Plan Summa College has formulated a number of ambitious goals which will boost the internationalisation of its education substantially.
At least 260 students will do their workplacement abroad during this project. The project envisages a growth of the number of students by at least10% on an annual basis. Three staff members will search for new, challenging forms of education. At least 15 staff members have done supplementary training in subdisciplines of vocational training by attending relevant courses, the participation in seminars or jobshadowing. Five staff members are trained in the field of acquisition of training places of a qualitatively high level.
Furthermore the project aims at an increase of the number of qualitatively high level training places by at least 10%, an extension of the international/European component of vocational training, improved language skills of students with the possibility to sit certified exams and a considerable increase of the European dimension in education. The presence of the Brainport Area Eindhoven can make an important contribution to these goals. The project will be set up and and maintained by members of the Core group Internationalisation of Summa College Eindhoven under the supervision of an assigned manager guided by the latest internationalisation policy. Monitoring of progress will take place within this group, while parts of the project will be delegated to members of the Knowledge Circle Internationalisation and staff members that have been found willing to participate.
The resultof this is an internationally more clearly recognisable Summa College, known within Europe as a centre of vocational education that is highly committed to internationalisation.
