Training in Organic Farming, in its methodes and machinery and in the effective commercialisation of direct selling
For a long time confined to a few pioneers, organic farming has now become a forceful movement which has spread throughout Europe and we understand why this is so: public awareness has increased as has eco-political thinking throughout the EC and the market has expanded. Of course, each country has moved at its own pace (just emerging in Spain & Greece, growing in France). The importance given to each of the above determines the position of a country with regard to the organic farming movement. An effective factor in the long term, human resources training has for a long time been neglected. Only a few centres in Europe (like the CFP since 1985) can claim to have any significant experience in this sector. Let us remember that France has long held a leading position in the organic movement, allowing the growth of specifically related training programmes. It is apparent that a sharing of professional training systems is needed; conditions today and in the future point to an acceptance of the organic rationale which gives us the confidence to push forward the organic farming training sector.
