Lycée Sainte-Marie has always aimed at opening up to the world and Europe in particular. In that respect, we offer a European section to our general and technological students. We also regularly organise activities, in the form of linguistic exchanges or humanitarian trips for all our students. It is in that context that management and teachers have decided to develop our internationalisation by offering new opportunities to our vocational students, with the medium-term aim of creating a European section for our vocational high school students.This project is based on a principle stated by Erasmus + « Studying abroad, receiving in-company training, confronting oneself to a foreign language, meeting and interacting with other European citizens, are all aspects that prove to be extremely beneficial and educational ». The objectives are numerous : to expand the professional opportunities of our students and teachers, to give them better job prospects, to enhance access to higher education, develop and stimulate training, to improve language skills, to learn to adapt and acquire autonomy, to compare professional practices, to promote vocational training, to broaden their knowledge of Europe.There will be 15 students and 2 teachers or other staff involved in the project every school year. The students will be selected on the basis of their motivation, their commitment, the professional attitudes and skills they have already acquired and their level of English (A2+/B1). For the teachers, the choice will primarily focus on those who wish to get a professional qualification to teach DNL (Vocational teachers who wish to teach a non-language subject in English) in the future European section of the vocational school.Learners benefit from an educational 2-year program to prepare for mobility during which they work on their knowledge of Europe, their English language skills, as well as professional or social communication. Once abroad, they will do an internship in their professional fields, they will be accommodated with host families. During the first week, they will attend professional classes at the partner school or will participate to welcome days or open houses organised for them. Cultural visits will also be proposed. During their time abroad, a platform will be set up on e-lyco (the academic digital workspace) ; local mentors will be appointed to supervise the students. Regular communication will be made by e-mail or by phone between the local coordinator and Liliane Point, project coordinator for Lycée Sainte-Marie.The overall project communication will be via a dedicated blog on the school's website, a Facebook page, the school’s periodical, and the daily press (Ouest-France).The expected impact is primarily the promotion of vocational training for learners and a new dynamic to improve self-esteem, better job prospects and easier access to higher education for students. For the staff, expectations include finding new motivation and expand their professional and personal horizons. For the institution, making mobility abroad our priority is expected to result in an asset for our high school, as well as a means to develop and retain the existing partnership with local companies.
