TOWARDS EURO 2012 WITH POLISH AND UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE
„"Euro 2012" addresses participants, visitors, and football fans participating in theEuropean Football Championship, which will be hosted by Poland and Ukraine insummer 2012. Apart from logistical support (accommodation, travel, stay) theparticipants will need a practical language guide and a cultural information package,which helps participation in Euro 2012 and moving in the hosting countries withoutcommunicative barriers.The aim of the project will be to develop comprehensive didactic materials related toPolish and Ukrainian languages and culture: on-line language courses, and a practicalinformation guide. The method of teaching will be based on e-learning technology. Thecourse users will have at disposal a modern and useful tool to study the language andreality of two less known countries. The didactic materials to study Polish and Ukrainianlanguage will be developed in 22 EU official languages and in Russian, providing thuscultural and language support in the attempt to contribute to remove cross culturalbarriers. As the title of the project implies, its results will also focus on one non-EUcountry, Ukraine, with the objective to bringing this country's language and culturecloser to EU citizens.The results of the project will comprise: online didactic materials to learn Polish andUkrainian, a ready to be printed language guide, pod casting materials, on-linedictionary, Info Poland and Info Ukraine with cultural information, bulletins edited every 2months, RSS canals, Internet forum (e-community) gathering future Euro 2012 visitors,fans and participants.The project responds to the objectives of: 1. promoting the knowledge of foreignlanguages and support linguistic diversity in Member States 2. supporting new initiativesin the field of using modern technologies in education, and 3. promoting innovativetechnologies and education concepts, creating educational materials and services forthe purpose of disseminating lifelong learning.
