PROJECT
FINISHED
The participants of the project:
The vocational school for forwarding and for travel agents in Munich is not only the applicant but also the institution sending the participants.
There are 36 beneficaries in both periods (2015-2016), all of them being in their second training year as a travel agent apprentice.
The participants of the project are staying for three weeks.
The hosting institution is the German pilgrims hostel in Rome. It deals with any kind of touristic tasks and is open for pilgrims as well as for any other tourists. Therefore this is an excellent way to address the target group of the guidebook directly.
The contents of the project:
The beneficiaries take part in specific touristic lessons including various topics , such as history and art history of specific eras as well as the current political and social situation in Rome. Major topics are of course sights, activities and accommodation possibilities there.
As there are many competent people in the local hosting facility, the project’s participants take profit and are able to deepen their expertise and professional competence.
After having attended language classes they will most definitely have a better ability and fluency in the Italian language. Guided tours for selected groups will be offered, therefore the acquired language skills will be used and improved immediately.
- Intercultural experience through experience on the spot, so the participants are prepared for the employment market Italy.
- By working in teams and as a whole group social skills are increased considerably.
- Preparation of the beneficiaries for the European employment market and the increase of the long-term mobility.
- Focus of this project is the orientation towards a particular customer group (youths) and their specific needs for stays in Rome.
- Development of a guide for young people with a focus on the sights etcetera.
- This guide should be placed as “APP”on the Internet and can therefore be used by anyone.
- The finished guide is provided to all German tour operators, the pilgrim center and the tourist office “Laszio” available for use.
The integration of Europe is a long-term-aim. This is only possible if many people are able to communicate with each other and have a good knowledge about all the European states.
The simplest way to acquire these skills and the mutual understanding as a consequence is being on site.
Expertise and the ability to exert theoretical knowledge is best acquired while experiencing things practically.
The people in Germany are classified as the"World-Champion-Travellers" and short trips especially city trips with cultural background become more and more popular. This means that these tours are almost compulsory for the tourism branch and it is very important to provide our clients as much as possible with large and up to date information about cities and regions.
The adolescents` mobility has increased over the past years, therefore the necessity for couselling for these special needs has also increased. Own experiences are without doubt the best source of information.
Espeacially the City of Rome with it´s antique, mundane and christian attractions is visited by a lot of young people. Mainly the Vatican is a very popular dteination. Particularly for this special group it is necessary to collect information about the offer of public transportation, the sights, restaurants and of course about the hotel sector and leisure facilities. All these information contribute to a convient stay and you can get details about them easily on the internet.
