The scope of this project is threefold: to develop operational tools and a focal point for the implementation of the Tourism Indicator System for sustainable destinations in the cross border area, the pilot implementation and the ongoing development of Tourism Indicator System for Sustainable Destinations; the capacity building of relevant professional associations such as tour operators, SMEs, and graduate student towards the establishment, management and evaluation of sustainable tourism destinations. The project constitutes a "comprehensive approach" that incorporates the function of destination management, and an important effort for concrete results in terms of creating a legacy, through actions such as the creation of MIS for smart decision making, for future policy-making with a specific focus on tourism and energy efficiency methods.
