"Together for a better education of sick children and adolescentes - Preparing Pedagogues to work in a multidisciplinary team in Hospitals"

Objectives of the Project: The present project aims to meet the needs of institution related to the operation of its hospital based branches, constituting an integral part thereof. The objectives of the Project are as follows: 1. Providing Project participants opportunities to: acquire new skills and experiences related to new ways of management, interdisciplinary collaboration of teachers with doctors and relatives of patients, and interpersonal skills in an international environment and to learn foreign languages. 2. Improving the quality of teaching and acquiring new methods of knowledge transfer. 3. Building new and strengthening existing working relationships and fields for experience exchange between teachers of hospital schools in Europe. 4. The development of the participants' knowledge on the cultures of other countries of the European Union, resulting in extension of tolerance, mutual understanding and shared values. 5. Intensification of the activities of participants in the framework of HOPE 6. The aim of the project is also to increase the importance of HOPE and hence to increase the possibility of HOPE’s impact on reality of hospital schools. 7. With the skills gained in the implementation of the Project, the participants would be able to more effectively fight the exclusion of children studying hospital schools. This is the overarching goal of preparation and participation in the Project. Phases of the project and description of actions: Preparation: development of a poster session, preparing workshops for the participants of the Congress under the motto "The use of methods of card making and scrapbooking therapy for students hospitalized in paediatric wards". Mobile activity: participation in the Meeting of Board of HOPE , Meeting of the members of the committee HOPE , participation in HOPE Congress as well as in lectures and workshops. Follow-up: dissemination of results of training through workshops and various publications - as has been characterized in the present application, being in constant contact with HOPE , sharing skills acquired in the mobile activity with Polish partners . Number and characteristics of participants: The Project involves four (4) teachers employed on a permanent basis in the hospital branches of the institution. The expected results, the impact of the project: The main result of the institution is to acquire the knowledge and skills to help children and youth with serious mental and physical illness, their families and health professionals during hospitalization and after returning children home . Through active participation in the project, public awareness of the importance of beneficial character of such activities and their positive impact on the lives of sick children and their families shall rise. The main result for the participants of the project shall be personal development (through acquired competence and skills), as well as improving their situation in the labour market and employment prospects (e.g. by broadening management skills and development of language skills). The result of the Project for the participants will also be improving their knowledge of foreign languages and strengthening the sense of European identity and belonging to the European community. Both the participants and the institution through implementation of the Project shall intensify contacts with European partners (HOPE) in order to establish cooperation with the newfound institutions, exchange experience and introduce modern learning methods. Expanding the knowledge of the participants of the Project: By participating in the project, participants will be able to take part in the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and building constructive partnerships at European level by creating opportunities for collaboration with professionals in the field of pedagogy, psychology, education, and health care (information exchanged on the basis of the latest research and strategies to improve educational and intervention programs for children , families and learners). Potential long-term benefits: - Development of cooperation between institutions from other European institutions and organizations, - Increased effectiveness of teachers work, - Improving the quality of education, - Increasing the attractiveness of the Project participants in the labour market, - Strengthening the institutions and values of its activities, Methodology of the Project: The methodology of the project was based on the PRINCE2 standard, taking into account the characteristics, requirements and simplifications which are necessary due to the nature of the institution. Strategic project management is entrusted to the Director of the institution, while the current work has been entrusted to Mrs. K. Wiłucka - Haczkowska. The product is the same as expected results of the Project.
