To be ready for nursing exchange in Europe 2014-2016

The project „To be ready for nursing exchange in Europe 2014-2016“ targeted trainees of the Ludwigshafen Hospital Clinical Care Center who attended their 2nd, resp. 3rd. year (i.e. 4th, resp. 5th semester) of health vocational courses for Nursing. It was the aim of the project to prepare trainees for the European job market, to break language barriers, and to increase trainee’s self-confidence, self-dependency, and adaptability. Hereby, the project focused on the development of practical skills in selected professional domains as well as the development of trainee’s intercultural competences, in particular with regard to health care and support of people with different cultural backgrounds. All these objectives were achieved. Foreign assignments were an integral part of health vocational courses for Nursing or Operating Technician Assistance and were fully chargeable to total duration of vocational training. The project term was two years, during which period 40 trainees completed their foreign assignments. First assignments were carried out on July 2014 and the final assignment was carried out on May 2016. Colloborative partnership institutions were the Clinics of Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Linz and Salzburg (all in Austria), and the St. Nikolaus-Hospital in Eupen (Belgium).
