PROJECT
FINISHED
The Salesian Organization of Youth Education o. Bydgoszcz has been encouraging EVS volunteers to work for children and youth for years. This time we encourage to cooperation two volunteers - from Russia and Ukraine. The goal of the project is common work of EVS volunteers and Polish volunteers in the issue of moulding the right develop of youngsters and giving them chances to spend the spare time actively. During the 9 months of staying in Poland the volunteers will be working as animators - their task will be to accompany children and youth during their visits in oratory - the place which is being run by our association and which fulfils four functions - a home, a school, a yard and a church. We hope that the volunteers will move closer to us the culture of East Europe, which is nowadays dominated by globalization and that they will pay an attention on the possibility of European integration in stead of political differences which are splitting countries. The main aspect of this work is to accompany youth and showing them right attitudes through giving them a good example. A big asset of the volunteers' staying in Bydgoszcz will be teaching protege a respect for different religion or customs and arouse their desire to meeting world and to learn a new language. We hope that the participants of the project will learn how to overcome the communication and world view barriers and will see the risk of stereotype thinking. Our task is to make a fruitful cooperation based on exchanging experiences. That will show to the local community, how big targets can be achieved thanks to the common involvement and also that because of an European Union's support, financial constraints do not have to be an obstacle.
