The Youth Acts Against Addiction
Start date: Jan 5, 2015, End date: Aug 4, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

In our project, we focused on the Addiction problem in general. When we first started writing our project, we made a brain storm and found out that Addiction was one of the up-to-date problems for the young people. For that reason, we prepared our project and carried out the activities. In our project, we wanted to raise awareness in our society. Besides, we wanted to find the reasons of Addiction, types of addictions, solutions to stop addiction. In our activities, the participants worked on the steps of the young people to prevent addiction. Project Participants: There were 5 participants from Italy, 6 from Macedonia, 5 from Lithuania, 6 from Georgia, and 10 from Turkey. And at total there were 38 participants. The participants were between 18-25 years old mostly. And there wasn't age limit for group leaders. The participants were able to speak English to communicate. Description of the activities: All the participants took part in all activities actively. All the precautionary measures were taken by the project team. First of all, we were aiming to make all participants feel comfortable about taking part in the project. In order to ensure it, in the first day of the project we performed name-learning and warm-up activities. And in the following days we discussed and worked on the problem ‘addiction’ with different methods and activities. We focused especially on the concept ‘addiction, types and reasons of it and finally solutions for addictions. The project included many dissemination activities and new project ideas as well. Outdoor activities increased the visibility of the project. The brochure was the main outcome of this project. ’ Methodology: Non-formal education methods, the inevitable part of the Youth Project, were mainly used in the project. So all the participants took role actively in each activity. There were many sessions which included workshops, group works, indoor and outdoor activities and evaluations. We saw that cultural nights were helpful for young people to learn more about new cultures. Results: The brochure was the main outcome of the project. This brochure, which was designed and created by the project participants, would be informative for all stakeholders. Thanks to project activities we made it possible for young participants both to develop their social and linguistic skills and to learn more about the problem addiction. Moreover they experienced and learned more about European Awareness and Active Citizenship. It raised awareness in the society. And in long term participants and stakeholders were motivated to create new projects.
