Imagine a dark theatre room full of enthusiasm and lights and shadows on the stage - a theatre performance of an international crew of volunteers learning to communicate in a meaningful way and giving their example to youth in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. This is a frame of the project's vision: to create a visual theatre as a cultural and educational context for a meaningful communication and a deeper way of expression of thoughts and feelings. An innovative mix of theatre techniques for (re)discover the passion of theatre, face to face communication and high quality opportunities to spend the free time. The project is approaching the issue of superficial communication due the misuse of the modern communication tools which implies emoticons, "feel like..." buttons or using verbally expressions like "OMG", "Like"/ "Dislike", "ASAP" and "The Light and Shadow Theatre Project" solution is to bring together, for 12 months, 10 young volunteers from 4 countries: 6 EVS volunteers from Italy, Germany, Spain and 4 local volunteers from Romania. The theatre crew will learn how to use different techniques in black light theatre and in shadow theatre, will create their own scripts, materials and costumes and perform in front of youth, children or adults in a social cinema theatre in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Almost 200 people will form their audience each of the 10 performances. In 7th month of the service the crew will go in a national caravan, passing and stopping through all the 9 geographical regions of Romania for perform for youth and children in rural areas. After each performance their teachers and non-formal educators will learn how to use the theatre methods in a volunteer-facilitated work-shop. Upon the volunteer's return from the caravan, each volunteer will invest all the energy in planning and implementing a volunteer project on it's own topic, target group or field - for the Cluj-Napoca community. All these wonderful experiences would not be complete without the cultural activities: from cocktail theatre nights, to storytelling mornings for children (using traditional stories) and to theatre lessons for youth (using also traditional stories or cultural elements of the specific countries). The aim of the project is to enable 6 young international volunteers and 4 young local volunteers to deepen their communication and we will reach it by working on 5 goals:1) to empower the 10 youth (6 international and 4 national volunteers) to promote and implement meaningful ways to communicate for youth in Cluj-Napoca during the service;2) to deliver 10 black light & shadow theatre plays from the 2nd to the 9th month of the service;3) to organize in Fall 2016 a theatre caravan in rural areas of the 9 geographical regions, for children, youth and their educators;4) to organize minimum 9 cultural educational events for children, youth and adults in Cluj-Napoca during the service;5) to develop the communication in mother tongue competence, communication in foreign languages and the cultural expression competence.
