CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVES
Stakeholders of this project are students and trainers working with horses. The horse is a support for vocational skills and support for the acquisition and development of social skills (self-help, communication, confidence...).
The main objectives of this project is to help students with fewer opportunities to feel more confident in themselves, to be better integrated into the society and to get easily a job.
Concretely, this project will give opportunities to students and also to teachers :
- to get more competences (horse knowledge or practises, English, ICT...)
- to become more mobile ;
- to open their mind.
6 PARTNERING ORGANIZATIONS
- EPDRA is a portuguese agricultural school. Presecondary and secondary vocational educations in the areas of agriculture : horse riding, forestry, horticulture etc. 320 students.
- BURTNIEKU AUSEKLA VIDUSSKOLA is a latvian public school. Each year, some students chose hypology as their optional school subject.
- The "Daniel Brottier" agricultural school is located near Nantes. A two-year program prepare students to be stable boy (groom). 80 students.
- MFR "LES 4 VENTS" is located in the east of France. This school is specialized in equine and bovine trainings. 200 students
- UDDETORP is a swedish school specialized in horticulture and horseracing professions. 200 students.
- The italian association "INCONTRO A CAVALLO" promote rehabilitation activities through horse riding.
DESCRIPTION OF THE MAIN ACTIVITIES
Each partnering organization planned a week long training focused on an equine theme (cf 5.5) :
- EPDRA : dressage
- BURTNIEKU AUSEKLA VIDUSSKOLA : horse riding
- Le LYCEE AGRICOLE Daniel Brottier : ethology
- La MFR "LES 4 VENTS" : cross-country riding
- UDDETORP : harness racing
- L'association italienne "INCONTRO A CAVALLO" : equine therapy
RESULTS AND IMPACTS
° Number of teachers and students who participated in trainings :
- EPDRA : 5 teachers, 10 students
- BURTNIEKU AUSEKLA VIDUSSKOLA : 4 teachers, 2 students
- LYCEE AGRICOLE Daniel Brottier : 7 teachers, 17 students
- MFR "LES 4 VENTS": 5 teachers, 16 students
- UDDETORP : 3 teachers, 5 students
- INCONTRO A CAVALLO : 10 adults (teachers ans volunteers in the association)
Total : 34 adults, 51 students
° By the end of the trainings, technical teachers have filled the skills passport (see attached annex). The fill rate vary from 20% to 80%, depending on the training content and the skills of the student.
° Some pedagogical documents have been created (available on the project website : www.horseinourlives.eu/)
LONG-TERM BENEFITS
- Students can add their skills passport to their CV.
- This skills passport will be used by partners, especially for internships in foreign countries.
- Teachers have enriched their pedagogical practices.
- Each participant has improved his English.
- A partnership has been established between the D. Brottier school and a Portuguese equestrian center. This center takes on 2 students as apprentices each year.
- Some collaborations are being built between partners and equestrian centers to allow future students to do european internship.
