The Ice Age in Epirus and Salento (ICE AGE)
Start date: Oct 14, 2013,

The overall project aim is to further unveil and highlight the specific natural, geological, historical and cultural identity (characteristics) of the caves of Perama, Zinzulusa, and Poesia Piccola. To realise this aim, ICE AGE will develop artificial environments, as a means to achieve vivid and highly interactive user experience. The artificial environments will also be used to provide extensive access to physically non-accessible sections of the cave, improve access to disabled persons and offer new services of both recreational and educational value. This way the project will attract more visitors and maximize the utilization of the recreational/educational potential of the caves. Specific major targets include:• To highlight the geological birth and evolutionary history of the caves.• To increase public visibility through the experience of artificial environments.• To improve the natural and general surroundings of the caves (through renovations and soft interventions).• To jointly promote the characteristics of the caves, enhance cross-border cooperation and exchange of experiences, good-practices and know-how.
