The Footprint Experience
Start date: May 1, 2013,

Have you ever wondered how your lifestyle affects other people and the environment as well as your own health and wellbeing? With a growing world population and an expanding middle class, questions of resource distribution and quality of life are becoming ever more important. Therefore, living on less intensive resource basis without suffering from a lower living standard will be one of the biggest challenges for current and future generations. Such a new lifestyle cannot be organized by individuals but has to be coordinated in groups. The youth exchange "The Footprint Experience" brings together 27 young people from Romania, Italy, Portugal, Estonia and Austria to create an opportunity to jointly find solutions and strategies for a rapidly changing world. Considering that in a globalized world intercultural solutions are of increasing importance, we attempt to discover a diversity of perspectives and aim to find a common understanding. For seven days, we attempt to live a healthy and good life with a small ecological footprint in the village of Mutters, in the heart of the natural environment of the Tyrolean Alps. We will work with non-violent communication, outdoor education, interactive Games, sport activities, workshops and other participatory methods. This way, we can realize what is central for our personal quality of life - and what is not. In the course of this week we will elaborate a set of alternatives to be implemented into the daily life of each participant.
