The European Technology Transfer Manager
Start date: Jan 1, 2013,

The EU is the world’s largest producer of scientific output but is much less effective than US or China and India in exploiting it through e.g. patents, licenses and spin-offs. The Technology Transfer Manager (TTM) helps interested parties (universities and research centers on one side, and firms on the other one) to turn a research result or prototype into a commercial product. He/she researches, identifies, assesses possibilities of transfer, starting from existing known research results or from a need from a firm, and then help the interested parties to liaise and to reach an agreement. This emerging occupation is crucial to secure public and private money spent on research doesn’t go wasted and firms stay competitive. The project wants to promote use of the ECVET system by applying it to the occupation of the Technology Transfer Manager TTM. To reach this goal, the project will produce:1. A competence profile of the European TTM structured according to ECVET guidelines 2. The curriculum of a training course for training TTMs. 3. A procedure for the accreditation (recognition of competence) of people working as TTM. The procedure will allow assessment, transfer, validation and accumulation of learning outcomes (under the form of ECVET points) achieved in formal, informal and non formal contexts. 4. Guidelines for the accreditation of courses providers organizing courses for training TTMs 5. Guidelines for the application of ECVET to qualifications. The consortium is composed by one University, one Chamber of Commerce, three VET providers, 2 local development agencies, one consultancy. Thanks to a thorough valorization plan, 30,000 members of target groups will be informed about the project and about 700 will be directly involved in it.
