THE EUROPEAN TALENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM 2.0
Start date: May 1, 2011,
The objective of the European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP) is to create circulation, promotion and exposure for European artists and repertoire within Europe. The fact that the music heard on the music festivals and radio is mainly US or Anglo American repertoire or national repertoire. There is hardly any exchange of European Pop music repertoire from one European country to another. Both for cultural and economical reasons it is a problem that European artists have little acces to the European music market. The result of the US/UK dominated market is the invisibility of European artists for the European audiences. The European Talent Exchange Program was started to provide actual performances at big summer festivals in other European countries with support from radio stations creating better opportunities for European artists on the European popular music market, create European careers for European artists and let European audiences hear European music. The growing numbers of artists and performancis on the participating ETEP festivals show that this program works. However, the growth and the awareness of the ETEP program has to be take to the next level to prolong success and to secure the trans national mobility of European artists and to enhance the intercultural exchanges between artists from one European country towards a audiences in another European country. To secure the ETEP strategy and to maintain the ultimate goal of European music market for European artists, a new program is developed; the European Talent Exchange Program 2.0. In this program the objectives are stretched towardsreaching more artists from all European countries with a focus on Central Eastern Europe, with the use of social media and more web presence, a tighter cross media partnership with EBU radiostations and other media, a sustainable growth of participating festivals and the raise of the support in the production costs for the European artists on these festivals.
