The aim of the Jean Monnet Chair “The EU Economic Integration in Global Perspective” is to enhance tuition and research on EU economic integration, its social and fundamental rights dimension with emphasis on global context. The rationale of the Chair’s focus lies in the current changes of economic and social factors both inside and outside the EU that create tensions in European society. This concerns especially persisting problems of Eurozone, current challenges to intra-Union migration and social regulation, changes caused by interdependence of world economies and by (illegal) immigration to Europe. The main activities of Chair will cover:1) Innovation of the current and introduction of new tuition focusing on EU internal market, competition regulation, immigration and fundamental rights2) Support for both pre-gradual and post-gradual students’ formation in EU integration (workshops, participation in EU moot court competitions, diploma thesis supervision)4) Introduction of debating activities with experts from legal practice and academia on actual issues of the EU integration 5) Support of research activities in the area of the EU economic law, fundamental rights, migration law and EU competition and public procurement law.The main impact of the Chair will be seen in:1) An upgrade in the quality of EU law tuition due to new study materials, innovated curricula, participation of experts from the legal practice2) An improvement of EU law based administrative and judicial practice through increased EU law competence of law graduates and trough activities directed to practising lawyers and judges3) Internationalisation as selected courses will be taught in English and open also for foreign students. Similarly, part of research outcomes will be published in English. The Chair will have a solid base at the Faculty of Law in Olomouc were it finds a strong tradition and support of tuition and research specialised in EU law and EU integration studies.
