The Environmental Issues in Semínko
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project was realized in Kindergarten Seminko which is non-profit organization providing preschool education focused on environmental topics. Seminko is situated in unique natural area in the southern suburbs of Prague, the capital city of the Czech republic. It also includes a small farm in which common farmyard animals are raised, mainly for educational purposes. The school´s activities are realized regard to the sustainable development. Children are educated in regardful of nature and surrounding environment, as well as to the others. The emphasis is placed on spending as much time outside as possible and healthy lifestyle including eating. The Kindergarten Seminko hosted three international volunteers, two from Spain and one from Romania, for one year. The main motivation of the project was to integrate the international aspect into the regular activities via natural way. The goal was to offer the children a meeting with someone from a different country - different culture who speaks with a foreign language. To show them that the differences are not barrier but an opportunity how to know the world better via nonformal education. The volunteers had a chance to know the czech tradition, customs and culture. They participated on lessons of czech language. The chance of participating on the activities actively was given to them. We suppose that the project will have the positive effect in sphere of racism and xenophobia prevention.
