Teaching & Learning of Languages
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Bilton Junior School identified a need to add a European dimension to its offer to pupils, parents and the local community. The school is seeking to provide an outstanding opportunity to professionally develop the confidence and expertise of its specialist MFL teacher, who has just been appointed as MFL subject coordinator. The school has selected a structured training course offered by LEAP for its MFL teacher to attend from 3-10 July 2016 in Lille. This course will provide a full immersion experience, bringing her linguistic skills up to date and, crucially, affording the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from other member states to potentially establish long-lasting links with other schools for the direct benefit of pupils. The opportunity to visit a French school and observe best practice appropriate to primary school pupils will fuel her enthusiasm and desire to drive forward a series of relevant initiatives over the next two years. The resulting impact is intended to transform pupils' enjoyment and mastery of language learning and lead to a more open and culturally aware school community.
