Taste the Nature
Start date: Mar 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

With this project we want to educate young people, from four different European countries with divergent social and cultural backgrounds, through informal learning situations, about the importance of being in contact with nature, healthy eating and to meet young people from different cultures. We want them to develop a healthy lifestyle and to develop an organic mindset and ‘green habits’, which will contribute to creating an organic mindset in their everyday life. This can kick-start their green entrepreneurship and a life with healthy habits in future. When young people meet face to face with other young people from different countries, they are given an excellent opportunity to enhance their consciousness about other cultures. We want to create an understanding of the importance of incorporating healthy habits in everyday life and gaining experience with cooking food through different outdoor workshops and activities, focusing on ‘learning by doing’, such as hiking, fishing, collecting edible food in nature and traditional ways of using the ingredients to cook food. The selection of the 40 participants will focus on the requirement that the whole group will represent the different countries and personalities of the participants, because we want to show the diversity of Europe and because we consider diversity to be a strength of the project. The results and impact of the project are as follows:• The young people will gain a lot of knowledge about the young people from other countries – both conscious and unconscious knowledge. They will learn about the cultural differences, but also about the cultural similarities.• The measurable competencies will be practicing the English language, learning to act appropriately during critical situations, to have courage to talk in front of the whole group, gaining knowledge about other countries, making international friendships, cooking food indoor and outdoor, putting up a tent, using compass and map, canoeing, fishing, snorkeling and outdoor sleeping. In the longer term, we believe that the young people and the group leaders will be able to benefit from the learning experiences of the project, because they probably undergo a cultural education through the project, which can be useful in future situations.
