Based on the research "Eurobarometer study" on European youth, it claims that slightly less than one in five young Europeans take part in voluntary activities even though three Out of four consider such activities as an incentive for their greater participation in society. In all Member States, a large number of young people believe that participating in debates with policymakers is the best way to ensure that their voices are heard.Having taken this into consideration and the perception that lack of active participation is alarming the participation of the young people in Europe might live through the participation crisis. Therefore with developing the project "Take a step forward! Including youth in youth NGOs as a tool for increasing social responsibility and combating unemployment" we intend to raise youngsters' interest towards taking active part in the society, volunteering in youth NGOs as a tool to become socially responsible and feel themselves included, develop local communities and gain vital skills and knowledge in order to enter and compete on labour market.The theme of our project is including youth in the work of different NGOs as a way to make them more responsible in the society and combat the current unemployment. We believe that involving youth in organisations is a good way to introduce them why one should be taking care of the surrounding, care about what is happening in the local community, help to develop the local community, realize his / her ideas in order to make the society as he / she would like it to be. In addition, we see volunteering in NGOs as a tool to combat unemployment. Active participation through volunteering in NGOs will give youngsters knowledge and skills in different areas which will help them to enter and compete on labour market.The exchange will be held from 14th of May 2011 till 20th of May 2011 (excluding travel days) in Amarante, Portugal and involve 30 participants from 5 countries. The project is organized by an international youth organisation network Youth for Exchange and Understanding who has organized more than 100 youth exchanges in last 27 years.
