Educational Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Lithuania (further - the Centre) is a state gymnasium type special school for hearing impaired pupils. The Centre also organizes provision of special educational support for children with hearing impairments or cochlear implants educated at general education schools or at home, provision of methodological support for teachers and parents' consulting.
The projects aims at improvement of professional competence of specialists providing educational support for hearing impaired children, assurance of the ways' and forms' variety and service' quality of educational support. It is planned to participate at International Feuerstein Summer Workshop for training courses of The Instrumental Enrichment program. The program is a cognitive intervention program which causes significant and powerful gains in students cognitive learning and achievement, provides students with the concepts, skills, strategies, operations and techniques necessary to function as independent learners. Two teachers of the deaf and psychologist will apply the instruments while providing special educational and psychological support for children with hearing impairments/cochlear implants and complex disabilities, developing recommendations for teachers on education of hearing impaired children. For the administration of the project a working group will be appointed by the director's order.
The participants of the trainings will gain knowledge and competences necessary for appropriate and effective application of The Instrumental Enrichment program' tools identifying powers a hearing impaired child and providing a child directed educational support.
Forms and ways of educational support provided by the specialists for deaf, hard of hearing and children with cochlear implants as well as to their parents and teachers will improve significantly.
Teachers, dormitory parents and specialists will be introduced to Mediated Learning theory and will improve their professional competence of education how to learn to learn.
