Sustainable businesses for resilient NWE business networks (ResilieNtWEB)
Start date: Oct 6, 2010, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project aims to address the core sustainability issues behind the current and future North West European economic and environmental challenges. by specifically focussing on key economical sectors. such as the food sector (excluding agriculture). construction and renovation building sector and also tourism for the segments based on food and building/renovation such as hotels. More specifically. the actions undertaken during this project intend to generate technological and managerial eco-innovation in order to put forward sustainability as an opportunity (as opposed to being a costly constraint) not only for individual businesses but also for business networks. Such innovations do not stand alone. They are part of a strategy which maximizes eco-efficiency gains while developing these key innovations in line with a sustainable vision. This will create and secure jobs. promote and strengthen intra AND inter sector collaboration at both the regional and transnational levels. Overall. the proposed approach aims to improve the resilience of NWE economy in view of the context of the current global environmental and economic crisis. The main aim of external communication is to make the project known and convince the target audience that our strategic approach to long and short term sustainability is relevant in these times of economic unpredictability. Achievements: The project has developed a variety of tools to coach the companies and help them identify the actions they can make to improve their adaptability and sustainability:A Resilience online Quick Scan often used at the beginning of the coaching to understand the scope of the company. It gives a score in 5 topics such as environment or social responsibility. An adapted Business model Canvas used to identify entry points to work on the strategy.A system mapping approach that gives a global view of the process of the company and see where you can implement actionsThe biomimicry cards (still in progress) provide concrete examples of little improvements easily done to be more resilient Fifty companies have already benefitted from the project's coaching during 128 meetings and workshops. Some of them are already working on their action plans
