Supply Chain Management in the Music Industry Across the Internet

This project will create a new on-line vocational training qualification tool on supply chain management, which will enable companies to make most use of the potential of the Internet in the electronic music business. This will be done by contributing to upgrading the skills of technical staff in ICT and ensuring that the opportunities presented by the Internet are fully exploited by small businesses. This project will comprise the following steps: ° identifying the changing trends of web-based supply chain management in the music industry;° evaluating the implications of the marketing strategy of SMEs;° describing new forms of buyer-supplier integration and interactivity emerging from virtual distribution integration;° developing a diagnostic tool kit for supply chain management on the Internet, designed in a modular format, with the potential to be customised appropriately for organisational needs;testing the diagnostic tool kit across SMEs and disseminating the results to organisations involved in the music industry. This vocational training tool will be available in four languages: English, Finnish, Danish and German, so that its mainstreaming potential goes beyond the partner countries. The research conducted in the identification of project aims will be disseminated in on-line music magazines. Organisations and associations connected with the music industry will be approached in order to disseminate and mainstream the key results.
