Superheroes, different but still the same - a European story about integration

Superheroes, different but still the same - a European story about integration is a collaboration of ideas from schools in Finland, Germany, Italy, Poland, Turkey and Wales. We realise what a truly lifelong learning opportunity a Comenius grant is for all involved. Our project explores teaching methods with research on integration and inclusion in each country so that our teachers will gain experiences of best practice across Europe. We also wish to give all the pupils involved the opportunity to work with pupils from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures and languages. Our aim is motivating pupils in the key skills of literacy in their mother tongue, learning a second language and using new technologies. We will hold workshops on education and software to support the IT skills of all our learners throughout the project, culminating all this in our end product, a series of animated films. In the first year every country will read and work on moral tales and create a hero which is at first view different than other children. There will be an amalgamation of all heroes into our superhero, which the children choose. In the second year the children in every country will create a storyboard and a base film which will be through pictures, our Superhero visiting each country solving problems posed by our pupils. A soundtrack will be added with children singing in each language. The film will be edited and a narration in each mother tongue added together with subtitles. The differences and similarities the children have in each school and in the other countries will be identified by exchanging penpal letters and having class exchanges with pupils in the same age.
