The project consists in international training (5-day training near to Warsaw) of the subject of intervention and prevention of peer violence. Participants of the training (18) are professionals working with lower chance youth, social workers, educators, psychologists and lawyers. All participants in their every-day activity work with young people facing socio-economical barriers, social awkwardness, demoralization, learned helplessness and who often come from dysfunctional families.
All activities (workshops, study visits and discussion panels) are aimed on broadening the knowledge, skill development and tools improvement, which can be used in work with youth and as the consequence of it will lead to improvement of work quality addressed to the beneficiaries. Undertaken activities will be based on non-formal education (enabling participants to decide and take part in the project from the beginning) and promoting non-formal education methods.
The result of the project will be an e-publication consisted of new methods of work on peer violation problem with the lower chance youth. The e-publication will be disseminated by all project partners and addressed to other youth workers. Such process will populate innovate approach to the problem, and give opportunity to improve quality of offer given to youth – especially groups facing peer violence problem.
The international network built during the project will have continuation in other projects and activities addressed both to youth workers and lower chance youth.
According to European surveys – from over a dozen to over 65% of school pupils were victims of peer violence at school, 17-57% were perpetrators. The highest rates of peer violation occurred in Eastern Europe – the lowest in Scandinavia. The bullying problem is common and requires attention and actions. Peer violence is often hidden from adults. Entanglements between perpetrators and victims may affect on the process making it long-time lasting problem which can lead to serious consequences in personal development as well as health and life of young people. Technology development delivers new tools which can be used for bullying – that is why creating new tools, experience exchange and recognition of various aspects of the problem is a must.
The training enables assessment of complexity of the peer violence problem (including social and cultural aspects of it), creation of wide perspective on it and give participants possibility of competence and knowledge development.
