This mobility project has been prepared by SOŠ a SOU řemesel Kutná Hora (Vocational School and Trade School of Skilled Crafts Kutná Hora) and the Portuguese association A.I.A.M, which specializes in the implementation of mobility projects for students all over the world. The project will give the students of the following study programmes – Social Work, Beauty Therapy, Cook-waiter, and Mechanic-electrician – the opportunity to complete a two-week internship in Portuguese companies. The interns will use English while working and communicating with clients, and their work will be supervised by a mentor appointed from the company staff. The project will commence on 1 September 2016 and conclude on 30 October 2017. The first internship, intended for the Social Work students, will take place in November in retirement homes. The students will assist clients with their daily tasks, prepare social and recreational activities, and get involved in the activation of the elderly people. The second internship, which will take place in February, is designed for the beauty therapists, who will work in small beauty salons. The third internship will be conducted in Portuguese restaurants, where our cooks will work as kitchen assistants. They will work under the guidance of a chef and learn to prepare Portuguese meals. This internship is scheduled to take place in April. The fourth internship, intended for mechanics-electricians will consists of work for big Portuguese businesses. It will take place at the end of May and the beginning of June. The participants will be tasked with inspections, electrical wiring, exchanges and testing of electrical appliances.Ten students will participate in each internship, accompanied by one supervising teacher, who will monitor the students and provide language assistance as well as aid with subject-specific issues. The internship will last for ten six-hour working days. Upon completion of the internship the students will receive the Europass Mobility certificate, which will list the attained units of learning outcomes. In their spare time the participants will have the opportunity to get to know the cultural landmarks and tourist attractions of northern Portugal and engage in sports and social activities offered on the campus where they will be staying. The project makes a major contribution to the fulfilment of the school’s European Development Plan, which puts emphasis on international cooperation. The project purposefully develops the professional skills, the language skills, and intercultural and social competences of the students and the participating teachers. It helps to increase the professional competences of our teaching staff through the establishment of new partnerships, and to increase their language skills within the scope of their professional development thanks to innovative methods and the exchange of experience. Among other benefits for our school is the establishment of a partnership with the largest Portuguese partner for mobility projects, and the access to a wide network of Portuguese business contacts.
