STAMP – Shared Training for Music Professionals WHY?Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe are musically rich regions with long standing musical traditions and innovative approaches. The EMC appreciates the existence of manifold musical activities in this region with music organisations active in a broad range of disciplines. We are aware of highly qualified musicians and music professionals who have graduated from professional training institutions such as music conservatoires and academies, or who have been "self trained". At the same time, our experience and studies on the subjects have proven to date (cf. reports produced by Creative Skills Europe http://www.creativeskillseurope.eu) only few opportunities for on-going professional development in skills such as entrepreneurship, communication, intercultural competences, cultural policy, or international cooperation are available. These skills are however crucial for a successful career in the music sector (cf. results of the Polifonia project coordinated by Association Européenne des Conservatoires – AEC).Many professionals developed their career by upgrading skills through informal work-based learning. For the sake of transmission to new generations of professionals and the on-going structuration of the sector, a strong demand has been expressed by the sector to recognise these informal skills and create tools and workshops to share them.WHO?Unlike in other more structured or formalised professional sectors there, are few organisations specialised in vocational training in the field of music. However, many music organisations offer vocational training to there own staff, to staff of other organisations or to independent music professionals. In this project the EMC has brought together partners who d) Are experienced in providing training in entrepreneurial and managerial skills for music professionals;e) Are well connected to both the field of academic training (Music academies, conservatoires and universities) and the professional sector (Orchestras, Festivals, concert venues, music organisations, networks etc.)f) Are authorities on the music life in their respective countries and at EU level with links to local, regional, national and EU authorities The consortium will consist of: • European Music Council – coordinator, http://www.emc-imc.org • Cyprus Centre for Research and Study of Music http://www.ccrsm.org.cy/• European Choral Association – Europa Cantat http://www.europeanchoralassociation.org• European Union of Music Competitions for Youth, http://www.emcy.org• Jeunesses Musicales Hungary, http://www.jmh.hu• Live DMA, http://www.live-dma.eu• Estonian Academy for Music, http://wwww.ema.edu.ee/?lang=eng• European Chamber Music Teachers Association, http://www.ecmta.eu• Unison – Croatian Music organisation• Latvian Music CouncilFOR WHOM?Whereas all age groups and educational sectors (school, social and youth work, university) will benefit from the project, the main target group are music professionals (event and festival managers and staff, directors and staff of music networks and organisations as well as performing and creating musicians in the need of self management), who have already started or well established their career. HOW?In order to address the expressed demand, the consortium of partners has set up a set of activities that will mainly strive at:• Developing exemplary tools for vocational training (workshop models, guidelines for mentors and trainers, guidelines for staff mobility), made available in an online platform • Improving employability and entrepreneurship within the music sector in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe;The project will build upon and further develop the offers already provided by higher education institutions in the region, as well as by music organisations outside the formal education sector. The proposed activities will be organised around five main themes, for which different types of Training Models ( = Intellectual Outputs) will be produced:• Entrepreneurship (Online Course)• Festival and Event Management (Model for work-based Training)• Audience Development (Guidelines, site-visite)• Social inclusion (Training for working with disadvantaged / underprivileged youth)• Networking and International Cooperation (Model summer course)The activities will include physical and online meetings of project partners, workshops, site visits of on-going activities, internal and external communication, and dissemination of project results. An online learning platform will offer MOOCs, (Massive Open Online Courses), webinars, guidelines as well as build up a community of VET trainers and learners in the field of music. By implementing these activities, the STAMP project will advocate for a better recognition of musical skills obtained in a non-formal learning environment.
