Having already joined other Life Learning projects in the past we strongly believed that this experience would have enriched both pupils and staff as well as families and local institutions offering them Intercultural benefits and great potential value from training courses, the teaching assignment and the job shadowing which would have helped to give a European dimension and it has. The main objectives of our project were: - to keep abreast of changes in European life and society, the education system and of the new developments in the European languages - to gain a huge variety of new teaching ideas and motivating materials ready to use in the classroom with the focus on Europe today - using new methodologies, techniques and methods - to exchange pedagogical information and knowledge in a multi‐cultural context - to further develop participants’ own language skills - to explore all of the Erasmus plus opportunities. Staff had been selected from a range of well-prepared and motivated teachers in the kindergarten, in the primary and secondary school as well as from the office staff who trained and experienced the teaching assignment and the job shadowing in more different European countries (the UK, France, Germany, Spain for the former one and Portugal for the latter ones). They have proved to be flexible and open-minded staff members who benefited from a highly practical training programme and from the job shadowing and the teaching assignment experience to enliven and make lessons more motivating (teachers) and to stimulate a new vision on mobility and partnership opportunities (office worker). Obviously they have been sharing and disseminating their experiences. The experience have been providing creative classroom activities relating to different aspects of Life in Europe today (e.g. youth culture, popular culture, the media, politics and education) including material and ideas from the European Lingua Project: "Staging Foreign Language Learning". The methodology used in carrying out the projecthas been including: - rethinking how students access learning resources - encouraging 21st Century thinking and learning (communication, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration) - learning and teaching complex problem solving skills - optimising the design and delivering of examples worked in order to foster learning and transfer. To assess the results we: - got feedback questionnaires from participants to highlight which aspects of the training have been the most relevant to their own teaching situations. - encouraged participants to keep a record of how they have been able to use ideas gained on the courses in their own classrooms - interviewed learners about the outcomes and the effectiveness of the classroom training teaching before, during and after the project - monitored the impact on the students' satisfaction and motivation - made sure that our students had been helped to become active and critical European citizens The number of beneficiaries of our mobility were: - those who directly received the training and experience the teaching assignment and the job shadowing - other teachers and staff in our institution and in other local schools - those who had a direct stake in the education of students or in the institution (parents, governors) - students, who have been benefiting from the mobility project in terms of their teachers' professional development through more effective and inquiry-based methodologies, more communicatve task-based teaching and organisational arrangements in the classroom, etc. - those who had a less direct but nonetheless crucial stake holding in education (educational authorities and society as a whole). Taken as a whole this experience led to more inter-institutional co-operation and vice versa both among school staff in our school, in the local schools and the European partners joining the training.
