St Michaels Youth Project - Together We Stand

Take off is a cooperation project between VPBy , Munich and SMPYP (St Michaels Parish Youth Project), Dublin. The project is aimed at young people who are deemed to be socially disadvantaged (unemployed, no place to study, immigrant, low education attainment, early school leavers, etc.) For the Irish young people from Inchicore their living environment (poverty, high levels of crime and drug misuse, etc.) and the current economic crisis contribute their social exclusion.The objective of the program is to provide cross-cultural exchange, sustainable contacts, cultural awareness, team skills, language skills, patience, perseverance, frustration tolerance, increased expression with different and enhanced skills such as independence, creativity, responsibility, organization, language appreciation and intercultural communication.The methods used are based on non-formal education, the use of sports and arts as well as experiences and reflection on their own life in relation to the other countries and cultures. Through creative workshops Take Off promotes communication and intercultural exchange. It also has a focus on education, training and employment opportunities for young people in a European setting.Youth Pass is a key part of this process on both sides.
