PROJECT
FINISHED
The aim of the project "Spring Around" is to gather 12 youngsters from all around the Europe to live and work together in a multicultural group for one month. Youth Centre Villa Elba will host 12 volunteers from Spain, Austria, Hungary, Ireland, Slovenia and Germany.
The target group is young people with fewer opportunities. Our focus is on young people who are minorities / migrants, unemployed, temporary jobs, lack of self-confidence, low education and school drop outs, learning difficulties, from disadvantaged areas, low English skills or financial problems. The volunteers will be such young people who don’t have a lot of experience or chances to travel and gain international experiences.
This project offers young people a chance for participation, to learn to cooperate in a multicultural team and to develop their personal competences like language skills, organisational skills and also to learn new working methods.
Further, the project will give the young people new experiences and skills, and this can improve their opportunities at the labour market in their home countries and therefore, the projects target youth unemployment.
The volunteers will be given tasks, tools and support but an important aspect is that the young people’s ideas and thoughts will be encouraged and taken into consideration in their daily work tasks. This will empower the young people’s creativity and entrepreneurship.
Preliminary programme:
week I: on arrival training and orientation week. Induction to the host, supervisors, mentor, the programme, project and location. Outdoor and sport activities. Please see the attached budget and timetable for the training.

On thursday and friday volunteers are helping the staff to organise the winter day in Villa Elba. Because Finnish parliament election will be only few weeks after "Spring Around" - project, we will invite some local candidates to Villa Elba to get to know the participants. The candidates will come and work together with the participants and Finnish youngsters and prepare decorations for the winter day.
week IV From Monday to Thursday volunteers are working in the groups again, groups change tasks. Friday is a holiday.
week V Monday is holiday. Volunteers will write their final reports and youth passes on Tuesday and Wednesday is the departure day.
The most important impact of this project is to support youngsters in Europe to get more experience and skills to find work or get to school after the EVS project. By realizing this project we expect, that the participants will become more self-confident and they will learn to take responsibility for themselves and others. They have a chance to develop their social skills, language skills and broaden their picture of the world.
By getting to know EVS volunteers local youngsters in Finland are also going to get information about European Voluntary Service and Erasmus+ program.
