PROJECT
FINISHED
The project associated 72 people from 6 different countries: Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania. The main topic of our activities was sport and its role in everyday life. During the exchanges we tried to make youths aware of how important sport and active lifestyle should be - even if we have many activities and responsibilities. During our work we were using elements of non-formal education - we wanted to avoid the theoretical approach and show how to use sport in practice. We included in our project young people with fewer opportunities, because usualy economic or geographic barriers limit or make impossible their participation in the process of socialization. In this way we were able to show that everyone has an equal opportunity to achieve his/her life goals. Through organizing the national evenings and presenting culture, dances, songs and others, participants had an opportunity to learn about other countries, their culture, customs and traditions. This helped shaping the attitudes of tolerance and respect for the others, and through presentation of their own country, they learned something new about their homelands. This affected in a positive way on a sense of national identity and personal development. At the international level, organized exchanges resulted in eliminating erroneous stereotypes about other cultures. Using peer education during activities, participants, on way of exchange of experience, gained knowledge of diverse sports and learned best practices for the implementation of activities for young people, which they can use in the future. One of the important results of our project was also to strengthen the network of trusted organizations to help achieve the goal of long-term partnership.
