„SPORT for dialogue II TC” is a 6-day TRAINING COURSE on practical methods in the field of social inclusion and intercultural dialogue through sport. Topics discovered during the project are connected with different aspects of social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, diversity, migration and integration both in local communities and on international level.
The project will take place in Warsaw - multicultural urban area with rich history of social, cultural and ethnic diversity. It will involve participants from 5 EU countries (Poland, Italy, Finland, Malta, Spain) and 2 partner countries (Macedonia, Ukraine). 21 participants (youth workers, street workers, NGO activists, educators, sport trainers, researchers and academics) aged 18+ will come together to share good practices, discuss social inclusion, intercultural dialogue and youth work and build new methods and tools for practical daily use. Main themes of this training course are: social inclusion, citizenship and intercultural dialogue through sport. Participants will deepen their knowledge and strengthen their skills in fields of integration processes, local communities, interculturality, tolerance, conflicts resolutions and non-formal educational methods with special emphasis on sports. The training will be put in the context of diversity and antidiscrimination education. Participants will present and discuss methods used to promote integration and mutual understanding through sport.
The training will consist of three overlapping parts. The first part will be led mainly by trainers in order to create the safe environment and the common ground of mutual understanding of such aspects as: human rights, diversity, inclusion, youth work , fair play etc. In this part we will be using active methods and encouraging participants to share their perspectives and local challenges.
In the next part of the training participants will share their "best methods practice" and participate in the study visits in local organisations involved in the topic of youth, intercultural dialogue, inclusion and fair play sport. This part will also include working on specific case studies reflecting various youth social environments. In the last part participants will be invited to create new innovative methods to be used with their target groups later on. This will provide participants with possibility to elaborate a concrete way of running youth work activities using the competences gained during the first two parts of the training and their own experience.
The training will be carried out within the use of different active methods like workshops, debates, presentations and field study. We wish to exchange tools used by organizations and build new ones, plan future actions. The training will be accompanied by online report, facebook comments and visual materials.
For the visibility and multiplication of the project methods designed during the training followed by practitioners’ reflections will be issued in a manual. Local communities will be involved in the project as much as possible. The seminar will be promoted in local media, social media, organizers websites and international portal of FARE Network. Conclusions and highlights of the seminar will be presented afterwards in each local environment of partnering NGO’s origins.
Main goals of the project are:
to find inspiration, practical ideas and tools how to empower young people in the field of social inclusion through sport;
to reflect, discus and learn more about challenges in youth work connected with diversity and fair play in sport;
to elaborate methods supporting the connection of sport with other areas of social and school activities;
to strengthen the existing networking and to create new partnerships.
We predict that training course will result in new projects and partnerships as well as quality improvement of activities carried out in local communities of each partner organisation (higher motivation, new tools for use, inspiration).
