he City of Äänekoski (2011-Fi-18) has been hosting international volunteers since the year 2002. The voluntary periods have been from 6 to 12 months long. Äänekoski has shown example and initiated international youth work also in other towns in the area.The volunteers will work at the youth centers, youth information center, schools, clubs and camps. The volunteers will also work at the sport organisations and other NGO'sa according to their personal interests and skills. Äänekoski will host 3 volunteers; from Romania, Portugal and Germany. The project will have an impact on large population: it will cover nearly all the youngsters in Äänekoski and also many youngsters in the towns near by.The aim of the project is to offer the volunteers empowering experiences. The local people, especially children and youngsters will get an opportunity to get international experiences. One goal is to make people understand other cultures and reduce intolerance via information and experiences. The project adds versatility to the youth services of Äänekosk
