The Project “Sport and Health in Young Europeans” will be done in Las Rozas, Madrid from the 4th to the 9th of July 2016 with regards to the designation of LAS ROZAS CIUDAD EUROPEA DEL DEPORTE 2016. It is a youth exchange with 8 countries: Italy, Portugal, Lithuania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Spain.A total of 32 participants will take part aged between 18 and 30 years old, 8 team leaders without age limit, two trainers and facilitators. The program will consist of workshops, physical activities and sport, etc., following the established program and has as an objective develop skills and attitudes that can foster self-esteem, autonomy and integration. The GENERAL OBJECTIVES of the project are to: inform, to think about and to raise awareness in European youth aged between 18 and 30 years old, about the necessity of doing exercise and sport as a way of maintaining and improving health; emphasizing the following points:BIOLOGICAL DIMENSION: reducing the possibility of contracting cardiac diseases and diminishing the risk of developing other types of diseases, etc.PSICO-SOCIAL DIMENSION: to make people more sociable, more cooperative, increase participation, to be more unafraid, encourages and strengthens the positive feeling about “one-self”. PSICOLOGICAL DIMENSION: it has been proven that physical activity and sports improve intellectual capacities, it makes us more tolerant with ourselves and with our fellow man, improves our mental capacity,etc.SOCIO-ECONOMIC DIMENSION: In the EU, the sports sector is very well developed and moves a lot of money (e.g. Football),the designation of Las Rozas as European City of Sport generates prestige, visibility and a source of income which can be long-lasting in the near future.CULTURAL AND TURISTIC DIMENSION: the sports encounters between cities and/or countries promotes cultural exchanges. The big sports demonstrations (Olympic Games, World Championships or continental, etc.), are socio-cultural and economic in nature, which promotes the cities and encourages tourisms and creates jobs.EDUCATIONAL DIMENSION: “Orandum est ut sit mens sana in corpore sano” is a saying by the Greek people three thousand years ago, with the idea that a healthy mind and a strong soul would facilitate a life full of virtue and interior peace. Young people encounter social and academic pressure, in addition they have to cope with physical, hormonal and emotionalchanges that they can undertake thanks to the practice of sports.SECONDARY OBJECTIVES:-Promote alliances and communicative strategies to give a better visibility to the opportunities offered by the Program Erasmus+: Juventud en Acción-Provide the necessary tools to incentivize experiences of good practice and exchange of knowledge creating a good and balanced cooperation. To achieve the aforementioned objectives the level of implication of the participants and partners will be stimulated in an active form in all phases of the Project, through methods of non-formal learning and participating: informative discussions, video-forum, debates, alternative searches, practical outdoor, activities, etc. As a desired result it is expected that everyone acquires certain parameters of behavior about the importance of physical exercise and sport that impacts every human being. Knowledge will be developed among young people of the participating countries and that in the near future be able to promote adequate behavior of good practices. The long-term benefits can be truly exceptional, especially if young Europeans practice physical exercise and/or sports, with impacts that are very clear in health, sociological, educational, cultural and economic.
