When it comes to research into the causes of precarious family situations and disadvantageous circumstances, perspectives and sensitivities of minors are rarely taken into account. In-depth knowledge about the objective living conditions of children and young people at risk of (social) exclusion is essential for the success of social policies and societal support in improving or obviating the situations of these children and young people. To correspond to that challenge, 40 professionals working in the social and educational field in Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg will discuss and work on the topic “Social Exclusion of Children and Youngsters”. The two-day workshop takes place 27th and 28th May 2016 in Remerschen (Luxembourg). It will be moderated by Dr. Beate Grossegger and Matthias Rohrer from the Institute for Youth Culture Research in Vienna. The project is a collaboration of CERES-Fondation Kannerschlass (Luxembourg), Kaleido-DG (Belgium) and the Bürgerhaus Trier-Nord e.V. (Germany).The workshop aims at promoting the active engagement of the participants by allowing them to see social exclusion from a different perspective. Participants are encouraged to developp proposals incl. ideas for their practical implementation in everyday life and in the discussion with social policy decision makers. In addition, the workshop offers the opportunity to strengthen networks and inter-regional cooperation in the field of social exclusion (multiplicator/ propagotor). Focusing multiplicators may help to change social partners’ point of view on social exclusion. In the long-term, this can make support measures for children and youngsters in precarious situations more adapted and effective in the Greater Region.
