The seminar „Sowing the seed for EVS” was an event for EVS mentor and coordinators planting the ideas for our future common EVS projects, assuring their quality and sustainability, as well as preparing key persons in each of organization to implement it with the highest standards. It was coming from the existing risks, challenges and dangers connected with EVS projects done by organisations who don`t know each other, don`t know how to cooperate with each other and have thereby problems keeping high standards of EVS. We wanted to make more EVS opportunities of the highest quality sending and hosting volunteers from different european countries.
In the seminar took part 11 organisations from 9 EU and Partner countries, together 29 people from: Czech Republic, Poland, Georgia, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia and Spain.
Through this seminar we planned to:
-Build a sustainable partnership of EVS-sending, hosting and coordinating organizations to make high quality EVS opportunities for young people in our countries;
-Build attractive and rich in educational outcomes EVS programs for our future EVS volunteers;
-Prepare EVS mentors and coordinators to ensure highest standards for EVS;
-Create a manuals for EVS mentors and coordinators in a spheres like:
o communication between partners
o conflict management
o support and training for a volunteer
o evaluation and youthpass.
The project was directed to EVS mentors and coordinators in NGO holding accreditation for EVS sending and/or hosting and/or cordinating. Methods used during the project were practical workshops, simulations, theater, brainstorm, moderated discussions, exchange of knowledge and expertise in a small teams. It was organized in CRACOW (POLAND) from 18 till 24 of January 2016.
As a result of the seminar, we established long-term EVS-related NGO network offering high standards EVS opportunities, guaranteed by material and educational results:
- written rules and standards for our network
- EVS manual with developed tools and methods to use during EVS projects
- agreements and documents developed during the seminar
- online materials with summary of the seminar, intellectual outputs, pictures and results.
In a longer term, we contribute to improvement of EVS quality in Europe.
