OBJECT: This project refered to the education / training of trainers / consultants of IASIS NGO in terms of innovative training methods and counseling refugees - immigrants in order to serve the needs of the beneficiaries and to increase the quality of the provided services.
BACKGROUND: IASIS having specialized structures hosting and supporting refugees / migrants, uses tools and training methodologies and counseling immigrants / refugees in specialized structures / services in order to fulfill their counseling and educational role. But the need for specialized tools remains high: the target group is growing while the status of the beneficiaries is becoming more complex.
Executives of IASIS had the opportunity to be trained in an innovative educational and counseling immigrants / refugees practices from researchers and field workers in Spain, with a multilevel way: - From the staff of SSF - from executives of the various services for immigrants / refugees (study visits) - by the social partners who will attend the workshops that will be organized by the host organization during the training course. The acquired of a different perspective knowledge is a true enrichment for their toolbox, as they will have the chance to reach the educational target groups and counseling through different stages and services.
OBJECTIVES: The main objectives (translated needs) of this Action Plan relate to:
- Finding innovative methods of networking NGO community, methodologies in order to raise awareness of immigrant / refugee issues
- Learning new ways of attracting beneficiaries - the 'building' of service step by step
- Exploring the host tools and recording the needs of refugees / migrants
- Upgrading of the personnel’s knowledge potential
- Exploring the training program design methodology for refugees / immigrants and, generally, people with different cultural backgrounds
- Monitoring of addressing legal issues of refugees / migrants, the legal aspects of counseling and its applications
- Effective ways to integrate the gender perspective in refugee / immigrant movement
- The diffusion of projects and related good practices visibility of NGOs
- Networking with stakeholders in the European area, who are working in the field of immigration / refugee
- The consolidation of the relationship between the two organizations and the transformation of some new proposals and products
- Dissemination of our work at national and European level
- Prevention and treatment of burnout syndrome
PARTICIPANTS: Participants in this project (8 people) are a powerful educational team of IASIS, active in different Structures / Services, who operate in different structures / Services Agency for Refugees - Immigrants - Asylum Seekers.
The profile of participants is:
- Everyone are from IASIS NGO
- Must work in counseling, education / empowerment of refugees - migrants - asylum seekers
- Undertake interventions in Structures / services, either individual or in a group level
- Coming from various directions regarding their professional specialization (trainers, psychologists, social workers, program managers, social marketing managers)
- They may be employees of the organization, volunteers or students undertaking an internship in Structures / Services of IASIS. In each case they are directly involved with the target group and an integral part of Work Flow of IASIS.
The Action Plan took place between the 18th -25th of October 2015 at the SOLIDARIDAD SIN FRONTERAS - SSF, an international nonprofit organization founded by professionals of different nationalities and with interdisciplinary training and experience in various fields of humanitarian field, based in Madrid,Spain.
