Sociální praktikum v Anglii a Irsku
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project will enable students of the 2nd and 3rd year of studies at the Waldorf Lyceum to acquire professional experience abroad. The project fits into the concept of education at our school, which focuses on gaining practical skills, connects knowledge with practice and leads students to explore themselves and their surroundings and to the interest in the other people. That's why “Practicum” is a part of studies in each year. Social practicum belongs among the obligatory subjects and passing it students have to learn to work with clients in social or educational facilities. We are implementing the project as we want to ensure pupils the opportunity to attend this mandatory work placement abroad.Through this project we want to improve the quality of practical training of students and bring European dimension into school practices called practicum. The project will allow participants get to know the welfare system, respectively childcare in England and Ireland. Participants will receive practical training, strengthen their core competencies and significantly improve their level of English. The internship will enable participants to gain experience with working and private life abroad, to get to know a foreign country and its culture, and to develop independence and adaptability. The project will also deliver benefits for the school itself. We will engage into cooperation with foreign partners. There will be a transfer of experience. The project will contribute to the growth of professional and language skills of teachers involved.. The project is also important to us because of the opportunity to become familiar with the ECVET system and its implementation.Work placements will take place in England (Portsmouth) and in Ireland (Cork) in April 2017. They will be attended by 25 students (13 in England and 12 in Ireland) and 2 accompanying persons. Placements will be 4 weeks long. Participants will undergo a training course before departure abroad.Participants will work during internships under an expert guidance in the social sphere. Internships will take place in the facilities as pension for the elderly, day care and preschool facilities for children. Participants will work 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Professional content of their internship will be based on the relevant units of learning outcomes ECVET. Participants will practice to carry out activities related to handling care of clients and childcare, education and upbringing. The results of the project will be primarily in intangible form. They will include knowledge, skills and competencies of participants, development of their core competencies, language skills and personality. The tangible outcomes of the project will be obtained certificates (Europass Mobility and certificates from intermediary organizations), photo-documentation and ECVET documentation. The internship will support the participants' motivation for further studies and interest in foreign languages. We assume that some of the project participants will be motivated to further deepening of qualification in social care, where is currently a shortage of qualified workers. Thanks to the gained experience, mobility and adaptability of the participants will increase and their future employability after graduation will be better. Teachers involved in the project will get in touch with practice abroad; they will improve in English and deepen their experience with the implementation of European projects. The prestige of our school and its awareness will enhance. The project will promote European cooperation in vocational training. It will support the use of EU tools for obtaining certificates and qualifications (Europass, ECVET), it will have an impact on the development of foreign language skills and intercultural awareness.
