Social Volunteering in DASYC Foundation is a project that promotes inclusion and equity , European citizenship and youth participation .The project will be developed in the city of Valencia that is the capital of Region of Valencia. The city has about 1 million inhabitants. It has great historical and natural heritage as the Albufera and the Lonja de la Seda. Important economic sectors are services, followed by industry and agriculture.Based on the objectives of the renewed framework for European cooperation in the youth field (2010-2018) and more specifically the promotion of active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity, three key points in the activities the foundation DASYC develops in his day to day.The idea behind this proposal of EVS is welcoming 2 young people from Italy and Poland to know the reality of our region. Young volunteers will share flats with other volunteers or with Spanish families and would support social activities in schools, associations and centers where the foundation does its work.At the same time the volunteer will be an example of European citizenship and there will be a celebration of at least two intercultural nights where shall be shared gastronomic specialties, music, a bit of culture of: European volunteers, volunteers and staff of DASYC and people with volunteers share accommodation.Previous meetings and monitoring meetings with supervisor of activities (weekly) and mentor (monthly), who is a senior volunteer, expert of DASYC. When the volunteer wants he/she can request meetings with EVS project coordinator.Volunteer activities will be held at DASYC’s headquarters in Valencia and other centers in which the Foundation develops social activities like Santiago Apostle School in Cabañal neighborhood. This, for instance, is one of the neighborhoods treated as priority in the city of Valencia for their socio-economic conditions: their poverty rate is the highest in the city: 29.5% when the city average is 17 '7%. There are situations of social risk as mistreatment, use and sale of drugs, alcoholism, etc.We highlight the impact on the beneficiaries of our actions ( in 2014 more than 5000 people). Our beneficiaries will have a new vision of Europe and of the world outside their immediate environment . In this regard the presence of the volunteers will be very important because it will be part of the foundation of a new European integration and citizenship . We believe that the greatest impact will be that this project will foster a true sense of European citizenship that young volunteers are the protagonists .
