SME Training Methodology for Technologies based on Free (Libre) Open Source Software – STRATOS2

The STRATOS2 project will develop and introduce a training programme providing European SME managers with the skills needed for the assessment and evaluation of the suitability of Free (Libre) Open Source Software (also known as FLOSS) applications and solutions for their organisations. In addition to SME managers, the project will also focus upon ICT and Human Resources managers within SMEs. Activities will include identification and analysis of the barriers to the implementation of FLOSS applications and solutions within SMEs; analysis of the training needs of SME managers in order to acquire the required skills and competencies to fully consider FLOSS applications and solutions; identification of the gaps in current training provision; development of an outline training plan and design, development, piloting and introduction of a online training programme to meet the identified training needs of SME managers. The project will result in a complete online training system (procedures, modules and materials) and support tool for European SME managers in each of the participating partner languages. Dissemination will make use of existing partner networks and will include the hosting of a series of information sessions and one-day seminars, the production of publicity materials (leaflets) for the project, the circulation of an electronic project newsletter and the release of articles to relevant press/journals.
