SMACS will use the combined expertise of the partners in maritime training and search-and-rescue to develop an emergency response and survival training programme and manual focused on the needs of small-craft mariners on commercial, fishing and leisure vessels operating in the Harsh Arctic Maritime Regions.. The programme will develop training packages and e-learning tools using both virtual simulators and practical scenarios, supported by advanced technologies. The training packages will be designed for delivery by local training organisations across the entire NPP region. Achievements: January 2014:SMACS is currently making progress to schedule with an excellent working relationship between all of the partners. Following engagement with the small craft maritime community at all levels from individual mariners to goverenment, the partners have defined a detailed framework for the SMACS Training Programme, are now developing the individual training modules and putting in place the structures for online access to the training material.
