During the process of optimization of Latvia school net Ministry of Education and Science has advised schools to find their own specialization in definite areas. school leading team of Smiltene Gymnasium has analyzed the strong points of the school and made a decision to specialize in the field of information technologies and science and foreign languages. In order to have successful school management in the future also the school leading team should raise their competences in creating modern learning environment and school management.
The aim of the project is to acquire specific knowledge in programming, creating multimedia, acquire English vocabulary specific to the subject taught and raise competences of using foreign languages as well as raise school leading competences in creating modern learning environment and school management.
Total number of teachers involved in attending courses - 8 people.
2 teachers are going to study programming issues and methodology of teaching programming to students from early age in Iceland. 2 teachers are going to study school management issues in Slovenia. 2 teachers are going to study use of multimedia and how to create them in Portugal.
In the result school leading team of Smiltene Gymnasium will be able to plan school development for further periods better, introduce innovations in school learning process, open new specific study programs in elementary and secondary education based on strong points of the school and the potential of pedagogical staff.
The results of the project are going to be reflected in Smiltene Gymnasium and interest groups and introduced in school. The new ideas and knowledge are going to be spread among pedagogical staff of other schools of Smiltene region by organizing seminars and courses for teachers. This will be a long term benefit not only for school, but also for wider audience.
