The project Skills 4 jobs plans to involve 24 students to participate in the project. They belong to 3 educational programmes: hotel and tourism technician (8), cook (8) and waiter (8). The students will be accompanied by 3 teachers. The mobility will take place throughout 17 days period in Lisbon, Portugal in October/November 2016. Our partner organization is Casa de Educação which is a training Centre specialized in European Mobility Projects. They provide host companies where our students will perform their professional training in Lisbon.Objectives of our project are:- realization of regular professional training in EU member countries- acquiring new proficiencies, skills and competences- introducing students to EU labour market – opportunities of employment in other EU member countries upon completion of education- developing linguistic, communication and ICT competences- higher level of self-esteem and self-respect- being independent and resourceful in new situations - cultural pluralism and mutual understanding of European cultures and language diversityHotel and tourism technicians will get acquainted with front desk tasks in hotels, managing guest lists and providing service for hotel guests. Working in an environment where foreign languages are of great importance will give the students an opportunity to master their professional and linguistic competences.During this project, cooks will learn new food preparation techniques, acquire professional food presentation standards, get acquainted with traditional Portuguese cuisine and promote Croatian cuisine as well. Waiters will improve their knowledge in serving food and beverages and welcoming guests. They will get acquainted with restaurant equipment, have chance to practice the European approach to welcoming and greeting restaurant guests, use serving techniques, as well as to learn about Portuguese tradition in food and beverages consumption. The waiters participate in direct catering sales and communication with guests, therefore, the knowledge of foreign languages and cultural awareness are of extreme importance. Accompanying teachers will assist the students with all activities during the mobility period and implement mobility experience on professional level as well as in teaching process in their school. Before the mobility, the students will attend language, practical and cultural preparation with the aim of mastering practical language and learning about Lisbon and Portuguese culture. Also, they will be given all information about their obligations before, during and after the mobility. Upon the completion of the mobility, the project will be presented through lectures and experience dissemination at Teachers’ councils, Parents’ councils and Students’ councils and to all classes of catering and hotel and tourism profession. These activities will include presentations of mobility participants. The mobility results will also be presented in the media: newspapers, radio and TV stations and the school website.We believe the possibilities of international experience in professional training will arouse future students’ interest in scarce catering occupations (waiters, cooks).
