Venta–Lielupe catchment covers theterritory of Latvia and Lithuania, thus thepollution of Venta-Lielupe groundwater inone place causes the pollution of rest of thecatchment water because groundwatereasily crosses the border.The project contributes to the preservationof ground waters in Šiauliai (LT) andJelgava (LV) districts and discovers mutualsolutions to environmental problems.The main project results are installation ofwaste treatment equipment in Aukštrakiailandfill that allows to completely cleanresidue in the dump-place preventingthe pollution of Venta-Lielupe catchmentground waters, prepared large-sized wastecollection feasibility study in Jelgava district,exchange of experience between partnersin the sphere of environmental problems.
