SHARING EUROPE WITH CHILDREN

The project was carried out at the Municipal Nursery School in San Clemente. It's a group project whose main themes are childhood and European awareness.
In it have participated four volunteers, one from Germany, one from th United Kingdom, one from France and one from Hungary. They are responsible girls, encouraged for the traineeship developed during their voluntary service, ready to share some experiences and housing with other people from different countries, tolerants and open-minded.
They have been chosen due to their motivation and interest showed in the project. We have also had into account theis hobbies, the possibility they could be developed in San Clemente and the fact that these hobbies were similar to the other mates hobbies. Other aspect taken into account has been their origin, rural or urban, to try their stay here was easy.
The objectives worked have been:
- Promote active citizenship of young people in general and their European citizenship in particular.
- Foster mutual understanding between young people from different countries.
- Local community awareness of belonging to Europe.
- Collaboration in cultural exchange.
- Encourage the coexistence of different cultures.
- Enable young Europeans charitable initiative, they can express their values in our community for the benefit of the development of it and himself.
- Supplement the care provided to children Municipal Nursery School, making it more open.
- Provide educational experiences to volunteers.
The tasks of the volunteers have been to support the educational work of the various educators Infant School. In no case have substituted a job, have always performed the tasks with educators.
The four volunteers participated in the Christmas Market Solidario, an initiative that came from a German volunteer project developed from October 2012 to July 2013 and has been consolidated and is a leader in the Christmas season. It has been carried out with the encouragement and support of the host organization and its development involved several local associations, primary schools in the town, two groups of elderly residents in separate residences over the town and two groups of disabled people, one residing Care Center for people with disabilities and other participant Occupational Center. The public participation in this activity is very high and this helps to make the project visible and give publicity.
Within this activity and prior to this, voluntary workshops have developed two original cookies in their respective countries aimed at children aged 6-12 years. Throughout the project have also conducted the following activities:
• Workshop games and conversation in English, aimed at two groups of children: a group of 6-7 years and 8-9 years group. The completion date was January to May 2015, one day a week.
• Workshop intercultural kitchen, within the framework of intercultural conference organized by the host organization. It was aimed at children aged 5-7 years. One day was conducted for 2 hours.
• Workshop "We play all" also in the context of intercultural aforementioned conference. It was aimed at children 8 to 11 years and came a day for two hours.
The learning method has been the observation and practice. Volunteers, with the observation, their own initiative and advice of educators, have taken their own learning and have developed the ability to act on their knowledge.
The results achieved have been positives, so much the volunteers, who have learned to worked and lived to people from other cultures and have matured as to municipal workers, who they have cooperated with, children and teens who they have worked with, who have improved their knowledge about other languages and cultures and as to the local population, who has always accepted this project with enthusiasm and has participated actively in its development.
