The SELF-EMPLOYMENT project aims at mapping and measuring the value of guidance and counselling services addressed at individuals considering self-employment. The project will initially undertake a survey on existing guidance and counselling services targeted at educated and experienced individuals wishing to set-up their own business. The survey will focus on the effectiveness of these services, their potential for improvement and the training and skills levels of guidance professionals employed in these organisations. The end results of the project will include a self-employment, cross-border toolkit, a comparative study relating to national curricula for career counsellors and a series of recommendations addressed to policy and decision makers, based upon the results and findings of the project. Target groups for the project include career counsellors, VET decision makers at local, national and European level, first time job seekers considering self-employment for entry to the labour market and individuals having been outside of the labour market for a long period. Dissemination will rely upon the hosting of seminars & workshops, the publication of articles in specialist press and the development & introduction of a dedicated website and interactive web platform.
