The project Second Spring is aimed to raise awareness of youth toward elderly people, gives opportunity to discuss formula of active aging and combine book-reader(elderly-young) together in one place. Sooner or later we will get older, at that time, when we look at the back, lots of experience and memories would had already passed. Elderly people are bridge between yesterday and today and they are so significant factor that transmit our culture and values to the future. In order to benefit from their experience and lessons, elderly people should get involve the society actively so opportunities must be provided to get them in social life actively. Therefore the main objectives of this project is to enrich the lives of nursing home residents, increase their self-confidence and esteem, using their knowledge and skills so as to enrich the lives of youngsters and increase the sensitivity and clarity among youngsters towards elderly people. Those people are always vulnerable, helpless and each of them is a ‘Treasures'. They are a kind of human book; therefore the aim of this project is to bring young and elderly people together in one-to-one conversation, to encourage understanding, sharing life experiences, to obtain first-hand information about old people's experience, memories, and history. Our objective is to organize the project in ‘home for aged, or nursing home' to give a message to elderly people: we are here to share your priceless experience, we are here to convey our hand so as to remind them that they are not forgotten'. Besides, another aim of this project is to increase awareness regarding active aging. As it is known, EU defined 2012 as a ‘active aging year' so via this project youngsters will comprehend the importance of getting older with well-being. In other words, via this project we aimed to highlight the conscience of youngster about being healthy during young periods so as a result healthy eating habit will be pointed out throughout this project. In the first 3 days we will make workshops, analyze the method to the way of approaching to book (elderly people) and the role of readers (youngsters are readers). And then rest of the day we plan to implement the project in nursing house by obtaining their experience. In this way, we also aim to relieve of ex-games that are almost forgotten by new generation. Surely, the games of elderly peoples' era are different than today so we wish to relieve them by learning from ‘treasures'. Lots of actively will be maintained between youngsters and old people such as compare movies, pictures, books from history and to today. Furthermore, participants will work in teams and elaborate applications of new youth exchange projects. During 7 days, participants will present the reality in their country in relation to the topic, will have debates on what can be done to promote active aging and they will handle how good examples exist in their own country. During the activities we will use non -formal education methods such as: peer learning, interactive debates, presentations, simulation games to fit the best we can the interests and needs of the participants. The project will gathering 31 youth workers aged 18-30 years old who are active, or wishing to become active, in the field of supporting active aging, increase social conscious towards elderly people. There will be 6 countries including Turkey, each group will be 5 people ( 1 leader + 4 participants ). It will take 9 days(arriving and returning day included) from 30.08-07.09.2014 and it will be in centre of Osmaniye. Participant countries are: Lithuania, Romania, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Turkey.
