Start date: Aug 15, 2015,
End date: Nov 14, 2016
PROJECT
FINISHED
'Scouting A Path II', will bring together 4 volunteers from Bulgaria, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Romania who will come to Malta and gain experience in the voluntary sector which will in return help them develop new skills, foster self-confidence, meet new people, enhance team work competencies as well as encourage social and community responsibility. This project emerged as a result of the first 'Scouting a Path' project which brought volunteers over to TSAM for the first time. The volunteers will be staying in Malta for 9 months. Two volunteers will come between 01/Nov/2015-01/Aug/2016 and two other volunteers will stay between 01/Dec/2015-01/09/2016
The Scout Association of Malta (TSAM) will be hosting these volunteers and will be providing a very interesting programme of activities, for which volunteers will be able to get involved and contribute towards activities pertaining to four main areas: International Scout Campsite Up-keeping, Promotion and Utilization of National Assets, Empowering Training & Programs Department and Cohesion between National and Group Levels. The tasks done in each area will be linked to environment and climate change, youth participation as well as social dialogue throughout all levels of the association.
The overall quality of the project will be ensured by careful planning and communication among all partners throughout its life cycle - recruiting and training volunteers before the commencement of the project; training, evaluation and support throughout the project; and providing support to volunteers, etc.
This will be ensured through close cooperation among the host and sending organisations. Volunteers will be expected to follow-up their activity by spreading awareness of their experience in various ways, and to explore how best to put their experience to good use. The long-term experience will lead the volunteers towards an appreciation of social and community work that TSAM undertakes on a daily basis.
Daily interaction will be a perfect setting for intercultural encounters, with the opportunity for mutual sharing of experiences and insights into various voluntary work conducted by TSAM. TSAM will be providing these youths with the necessary mentorship and any other assistance that would be required so as to enable a unique and valuable experience for each and every volunteer, an experience that will indeed be worth sharing and that will serve to enhance their portfolio for future career opportunities.
The volunteers will be helping us out with a lot of different activities, which will keep their volunteering schedule full of interesting tasks. They will be required to come up with ideas and express themselves, aside from helping us out in hands-on activities such as organising our internal archives and helping in the maintenance of rubble walls.
'Scouting a Path II' is not only an experience for the EVS volunteers or their direct contacts, but will also aim to promote volunteering within Malta and the countries of the other participating organisations. Being such a large youth-led organisation, the project will aim to promote European Voluntary Service among its members. This will help TSAM become a better sending organisation and ensure that we give access to Erasmus+ to more young people, especially those with fewer opportunities.
