Science festival Researchers` Night in Slovakia 2013 (RN2013SVK)
Start date: Jun 1, 2013, End date: Dec 31, 2013 PROJECT  FINISHED

"In 2012, we have successfully implemented science festival Researchers` Night for 6th time in Slovakia. During the first 5 years we have been presenting science in shopping malls where people were just caught by the latest research outcomes and successes of Slovak science. These years of hard work and increasing public interest in science showed us that Slovak society is prepared for the event dedicated only to science and its promotion. That is why, we moved main evening program of RN2012 to the Old Market Hall situated in Bratislava City Centre. It represents attractive venue opened only for a special occasions. Thanks to interactive presentations of latest scientific work and research outcomes of top Slovak researchers, we successfully created kind of festival atmosphere in the empty market hall.As proved by statistics, the RN2012 was the most successful. We have recognized increasing public interest in science and augmented awareness of all relevant stakeholders in Slovak education and R&D system. Municipality of Bratislava, Ministry of education and dozens of important sponsors have already promised us significant support for the next year event. The concept of RN2013 aims to expand the event through the Bratislava City Centre and upgrade it for all day long open air festival of Science. The main program will be held in Old Market Hall with various science installation and stands spread through the City Centre. People will have an opportunity to spend all day and night visiting different boots, testing scientific applications, getting in touch with the latest research outcomes and speaking to researchers. Thanks to the direct exchanges and discussions with the researchers people can discover their ""human face"". During the event and awareness campaign we will focus on examples how interesting and attractive could career of scientist be what hopefully will help us to break down the myth about scientists as weird creatures living in labs and having no life."
